Vacuum cup baby delivery or assisted delivery is nothing but all this term means that your baby needs some more help and care during delivery. During the labour stage two common methods are used to deliver a baby. The two common methods are forceps and vacuum extraction or ventouse. A suction cup like instrument known as vacuum or ventouse is used for the delivery. It is attached to the baby’s head with the help of suction and thus the baby is moved down the birth canal. But it is used after the mother get tired pushing for a long time. Again if the baby is nearly out but his heart rate is low or not reassuring. The assisted delivery’s success totally depends upon doctor. Otherwise the assisted delivery transforms into c-section.
How the process works?
The doctor at first consults with the mother if the assisted delivery is required. On the delivery day at first the doctor or midwife will give the expectant an anaesthesia. And then the method of assisted delivery is done. The suction cup is released and removed when the baby’s head appears. If this method doesn’t work then the expectant will be given a caesarean section.

- Baby’s head position is not in optimum position.
Risks or birth effects of vacuum assisted delivery
It is seen in medical history that those babies delivered with the ventouse method or vacuum assisted delivery develops a swelling or bump in their head. This causes due to the suction cup is used during delivery. But this bump disappears after the birth within some hours.
